My hands on Jewelery Making

My interest for making my own accessories started when I was in college, where all girls had their matching bracelets,chains etc, that they wore both on jeans as well as Indian outfits.So, I started making stuff that matched my clothes using beads, crystals, pearls of various colours, shapes and sizes and later started making necklaces and bangles that can be worn even on saris.

These are a couple of chains made using rice pearls,round pearls and golden beads.

These are made using different coloured crystals and golden beads.

This is a necklace (normally worn as a choker) that can be worn on both grand indian outfits as well as saris.

Works of crop art can be seen in popularly in the rice-farming areas of Japan. The farmers create the murals by planting little purple and yellow-leafed kodaimai rice along with their local green-leafed tsugaru roman variety to create the coloured patterns between planting and harvesting in September.

Rice-paddy art was started there in 1993 as a local revitalization project, an idea that grew out of meetings of the village committee

In the first nine years, the village office workers and local farmers grew a simple design of Mount Iwaki every year. But their ideas grew more complicated and attracted more attention.

A year later, organizers used computers to precisely plot planting of the four differently colored rice varieties that bring the images to life. The largest and finest work is grown in the Aomori village of Inakadate, 600 miles north of Tokyo, where the tradition began in 1993.

In 2005 agreements between landowners allowed the creation of enormous rice paddy art.

Ashaji ... more commonly known as Asha Tai has stolen the hearts of at least a million people around the world with her versatility in singing. Ashaji has always been my favorite female singer in Bollywood.I always try to immitate and copy her.

The first Bollywood song i recorded on my tape was 'piya tu ....'.It was only after recording that I realized that I was miles away from Asha Tai.

Lord Ganesha - Done with Crayon

The birth of LORD Ganesha-Ganesh chaturthi ,Vinakaya Chaturti is an auspicius religous

festival in Maharashtra.According to what i have read ,this festival that is celebrated

since the days of the Maratha Empire.In Maharasthra it usually goes on for 10 days and in

primitive days many bhanjans,Abhangas and holy songs were sung in praise of Lord Ganapati.
A tradional sweet known as 'modak' ,fruits and other sweets are offered to the Lord.

How ever ,in present days i see that the whole purpose of it being a religous holy festival

being lost.I do not understand till date the purpose of playing Bollywood & even Hollywood

songs like 'kanta lagaa','Its the time to Disco','I'm a barbie girl'etc beside Ganesh

pandals.I really wonder if Lord Ganesha wanted to catch up with the latest songs in Both

hollywood and bollywood.Even idols that are made are wierd .some depicting

politions.Recently ,i saw a video of a six pack ganesha.

Most give a reason that popularity demands.

Finally, i would like to conclude that it's good to adopt modern ways for festivals but care should be taken that the main motive ofa particular festival remains.

Today, all of us live a sophisticated life style as compared to primitive age. In the process ,many have failed to realize our relation with MOTHER NATURE. Hundreds of acres of land has been utilized to build cement buildings and houses,which has resulted in tremendous reduction of trees. As young children most of us have learned the importance of TREES to maintain Ecological Balance. Apart from ,this a lot of green house gases like carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide ,etc are being continuously emitted by innumerable factories which has resulted in GLOBAL WARMING.

Efforts have to be taken by each one of us to Stop Global Warming without waiting for any Government or NGO to action and motivate the masses. As , all of us share this planet which is our only home. There is an article on Times of India which says ‘Melting glaciers: Switzerland gets Italy land…’ this is only one effect amongst the others which include rising sea levels, high local temperatures(as we are already experiencing) and also change in rainfall patterns which is another factor that many States in India are already facing .One reason behind the high reduction of wild life, marine species is also due to Global warming .Along with these , Human health will also be affected drastically .

Many actions are already being taken for e.g. almost all Medical stores use just paper bags to give away drugs to customers unlike earlier where plastic bags were used.

I remember when I was in Class VI, there used to be a cartoon called ‘Captain Planet’ on Cartoon Network. A very educative cartoon where, in each episode one amongst the various causes of pollution and global warming was telecasted.

I wish that more such cartoons come up in future in different channels to educate children as well on this subject.

Some of the simple things that I follow are

Have a small garden at home
Don’t use an Air Conditioner.
Make use of minimum plastic
Walk short distances.
Switch off Lights and fans when not in use
Use water efficiently by attending to a leaking tap without delay, turning off the water while I am brushing , etc.

It seems that it was first detected in first detected in 1987. So it is not as new as many think.

Masks are of limited value as the virus can also spread through pores in the skin.

Unfortunately , its symptoms are similar to normal flu.

The best way to avoid this flu is to increase immunity through regular exercise.

As simple as walking for at least 20 min a day.

Also, some of the ways to avoid the spread is by following clean habits daily

1. Keeping hands clean by washing them regularly with water.

2. Avoid touching your face often.

3. Use a disposable tissue while sneezing,coughing,cold and throw it away after its use.

Bye Bye IE 6 !!!

Recently, I read an article on Mashable which stated that IE 6 should no longer be used.

I strongly support this.Being a web developer ,I have faced so many problems when it comes to designing on IE6.A few weeks back ,I faced a problem with Image transparency on IE6 which ate so much of my time ,but still did not manage to get the desired output.Since it is the default browser on windows XP, its being used to a large extent.But,with HTML5 and other advanced web technologies being introduced ,its time that everyone stops using old versions of browsers like IE6 and mozzila 2.0,etc.

Google - The Technology Giant has announced two major projects

* Google Wave
* Google Chrome OS

Both of which have created so much of buzz even before its out for the masses to use.

Wave is a mega application which combines Real-time, Document Collaboration,DocumentManagement, Drag And Drop, Private Messages, ability to embed it into any website or blog,Private Messages, Spelly, Playback History, Rosy, Open Source and more.
Its a bundle of everything that is almost separately used today. Google Wave looks like an All-in-one package.

Google Chrome an Operating System which will also be open source and run on top of Linux Kernel.

After having usedColayer,which is also a collaborative platform, I am just anxiously waiting for the launch of Google wave.

What can be highly appreciated is the fact that Google offers almost everything for FREE.
Which is also one of the many factors that attracts so many of us to use its Applications and Tools.

Indian classical music, is an institution and has evolved greatly over the years. As compared to the present, Music played a significantly large role in the lives of people in ancient times. People used to devote themselves music. Kings and queens patronized music and had a full court of accomplished musicians. They used to wake up and sleep listening to music. Several competitions used to be held where the level of music was extremely high.

South Indian Music can be divided into 3 Periods

Ancient Period (20^th century B.C. to 3^rd century A.D.)
Medieval Period (7^th century A.D. to 15^th century A.D.)
Modern Period (16^th century A.D. till today)

South Indian music has Vedic origin. Vedas were chanted in musical notes. Sama Veda consisted of all 7 notes.(Sa Ri Ga Ma Pa Da Ni).

Various theories have been framed to understand the divine and religious nature of the seven notes. There were theories which suggested that the sounds of each note matched those of animals like Sa for Peacock, Ri for Ox, Ga for Goat, Ma for Crane, Pa for Cuckoo, Dha for Horse and Ni for Elephant. Another theory assigns each note to a body part which produce sounds, like nose, throat, stomach, head etc. Although this may sound primitive, people have suggested formulas to generate millions of Ragams.
